There are 9 Ground Search and Rescue Teams (GSAR or SAR) teams in New Brunswick, all of them entirely run by volunteers. They are a resource for police and public safety agencies to call upon, primarily to find lost and missing people, but can also be called upon for disasters like ice storms.

This 50/50 is to help fund the participating non-profit organizations so they have the equipment and training they need to assist when called upon.

York Sunbury Search and Rescue (YSSR) is pleased to announce our online 50-50 Goldrush on behalf of all participating New Brunswick Ground Search and Rescue Teams (NB GSAR). NB GSAR teams are 100% volunteer non-profit organizations that are activated by police agencies to help locate lost and missing people. We can also be activated by the provincial, regional, or municipal emergency organizations to assist during natural disasters or other crises.

NB GSAR teams also work to prevent search and rescue incidents and to lessen their severity. Teams can provide courses from Adventure Smart like the Hug-A-Tree or Survive Outside which together offer courses for those ages 5 and up.

Some NB GSAR teams are also agencies for Project Lifesaver, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting caregivers to find loved ones who may be at increased risk of wandering due to Alzheimer's disease, Autism or other cognitive conditions. Clients wear a radio transmitter bracelet that emits a tracking signal. SAR personnel have the training and equipment to locate wandering clients much more quickly than using traditional methods, minimizing the risk of injury or death.

Our volunteers dedicate tremendous amounts of their time and energy to train and prepare to respond when called upon, 24 hours a day, all 365 days of the year. We depended on the generous support of our community to purchase and maintain the equipment needed to allow us to search safety and effectively and bring loved ones home. Your support is important and makes a difference!
One winner each month will receive 50% of the money raised.
When purchasing tickets, please select the SAR team you are supporting, as the money will help that group.
